  26. Check that the modem initialisation string has  M1  in it somewhere.  It 
  27. could be that at some time M was set to 2 (speaker always on) and the 
  28. modems internal default settings have never been recalled.  Or put L0 in 
  29. to set the speaker volume to 0, if it is still a problem.
  30. BTW,
  31. M0  =  speaker off
  32. M1  =  speaker on until connect
  33. M2  =  speaker on always.
  34.  
  35. L0 - L4 sets volume.
